Communications Specialist

Real Art Ways seeks a full-time Communications Specialist to work in areas related to the development and implementation of strategic communications across all RAW platforms. Interested candidates will have a background in Communications and an interest in arts, contemporary expression and social engagement.


– Develop and implement multi-faceted communications plans for films, gallery openings, performances, special events, and the organization at large

– Participate in the creation and planning of film programming and RAW events

– Generate and implement new strategies for improving the quality and quantity of communications

– Manage website content creation and maintenance using WordPress

– Create and manage social media content and advertising strategy within social media

– Create and distribute weekly e-news using Constant Contact

– Create and/or proof printed materials across all programs including the quarterly print calendar

– Establish and maintain relationships with key members of the media locally and nationally; write and distribute press releases and any relevant documentation

– Maintain and foster positive relationship with donors through campaigns and interactions

– Monitor representation of RAW brand through management of branded assets (particularly boilerplate language, fonts, and logo) both internally and across external collaborations

– Fulfill grant requirements pertaining to credit placement in communications; generate PR specific documentation

– Coordinate with contracted vendors including webmaster, graphic designers, and photographers

– Maintain electronic and print archives of media coverage


– Bachelor’s degree or higher; 3+ years experience in marketing or communications preferably in the non-profit sector

– High level of proficiency required in: Photoshop, InDesign, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, Word and Constant Contact

– Proficient in social media strategies, email marketing strategies and content strategies

– Demonstrated ability to understand and adopt new communication tools and platforms

– Strong oral and written communication skills

– Ability to proofread and edit materials for online and print publication

– Graphic design skills

– Apply creative strategies to overall communications plan and specific initiatives

– Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationship with media agencies

– Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining close attention to detail
